Earn a Certificate in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, designed for Businesses, Educators & Community Leaders.
This non-credit certificate program will create understanding and grow leadership skills in diversity, equity, and inclusion. Each unit is interactive and advances from building conceptual knowledge to applying newfound skills. Participants walk away with experience having challenging conversations and envisioning equitable solutions within their social spheres.
The Canvas platform will be utilized to deliver this class.听You will receive a Zoom link through email prior to the start of class.听
Upon successful completion of this certificate, participants will be able to:
- Identify key concepts central to understanding diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Apply skills gained to specific areas of focus
- Contribute to conversations and solutions in the workplace and or community

Unit One: Foundations of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Topic and Completion Time | Description |
Week One: Starting with Terminology & Exploring the Impact of History Completion time: 3 - 4 hours |
This unit introduces participants to the basic concepts in DEI as well as important moments in history to understand when doing DEI work |
Week Two: Synchronous Discussion Completion time: 1.5 hour session + 1.5 - 2.5 hours work time |
Participants sign up for one of two session times. This session expands on week one to further explore the importance of the work and what factors impact it |
Unit Two: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Everyday

Week One: What is Privilege & Managing Everyday Bias Completion time: 3 - 4 hours |
This unit reviews the concepts of bias and privilege, common misconceptions and how to have effective communication around these topics听 |
Week Two: Synchronous Discussion Completion time: 1.5 hour session + 1.5 - 2.5 hours work time |

Unit Three: Applied DEI for the Workplace

Week One: Taking Action - Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace Completion time: 3 - 4 hours |
This unit applies what has been previously reviewed to the workplace, while exploring terminology specific to occupational inequality |
